About the Chef behind Nourish Queen

Hi, I’m Lana, the chef and owner behind Nourish Queen.

Food has been my passion for as long as I can remember. I started working in professional kitchens at just 13 years old and became a fully qualified chef at 20, completing my apprenticeship at one of Nelson’s most respected restaurants, Hopgoods, under the guidance of some incredibly talented chefs.

Those years taught me the importance of quality, technique and attention to detail. More importantly, they taught me that great food doesn’t have to be complicated. I believe in wholesome, comforting food with big, bold flavours the kind of meals that bring people together and make you feel at home.

After becoming a single mum, I realised the hospitality lifestyle wasn’t the life I wanted for my family. Today, my beautiful daughters aged 6 and 9 are the reason Nourish Queen exists.

Nourish Queen was created from a simple idea: if I could nourish my own family with delicious chef-prepared meals, why not help nourish yours too?

Life doesn’t always go to plan, and I know how overwhelming it can feel. Sometimes having dinner taken care of is one less thing to worry about. That’s what Nourish Queen is really about a little breathing room, a warm meal after a long day, and making life just that little bit easier.

Kindness is at the heart of everything I do. Whether it’s preparing meals for a busy family, supporting someone through my Night Off initiative, or simply putting a smile on someone’s face, I believe food has a way of bringing comfort when it’s needed most.

Feeding people has always been my love language.

Every meal is prepared by me, from scratch, using quality local ingredients and restaurant-quality recipes. My hope is that when you sit down to eat a Nourish Queen meal, you don’t just enjoy great food you feel cared for.
